Discussion:
[N8VEM: 19262] sbc v2 new build, u8 and u9 seem a little on the warm side

As far as I can tell the board works properly. It boots up fine and I can
use the system without any obvious problems.

However, u8 and u9 are noticeably warmer than any other chip(all other
chips seem to not be warm at all).

Is this anything I need to worry about?

Thanks,

Brad

Brad,

These ICs are not noticeably warm on my SBCv2, at least. I don't know if it
is a concern, if not very hot I would not think so. Anyway, both ICs are (I
think exclusively) involved with buffering the ECB bus. If you are
suspicious, check for shorts in that direction. More likely, maybe these
two are LS chips (as some here recommend) and the rest of the ICs are HCT,
in which case I would think it's normal.

Regards,

Oscar.
