During my quarterly trip to the surplus and legacy parts store,
I picked up a surplus Netrix RDC-V Data Compressor (for a very low price) to use as an enclosure for future projects.
These units were mfg. In early 1990s and were dropped from Avaya support in 2004.

The unit is very well built.
The surprise inside was the metal frame with card guide to hold a Eurocard (100x220mm) communications card.
The metal enclosure has small fan, and spot for a second on other end of case.
You could install at least one additional guide for a board and maybe 2.

The desktop enclosure is 155x255mm (1990s cable mobile horizontal) for a 2 or 3 board ECB concept.

The PCB itself is double-sided with 80% SMT. The ICs used inside?
Motorola MC68EC030RP40B (socketed); (2) Zilog Z8523020VSC; (2) KM48C512AJ-G;
Maxim MAX232CWE; (2) HM514260AJ7; (7) AT&T LH1516; (4) AT&T LH1513; Sipex, LSI, etc.

Keep eye open at telecom surplus for this case.
