All,

In anticipation of working my way through some of the ECB boards (either as
Andrew L reissues them or by having PCBs made) I am putting in an order
with UTSource for some of the harder to find ICs.

Right now I am looking at:
-FDC9266 <http://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/FDC9266-214960.html>, for my
Zeta and potential future DiskIO V3
-WD37C65BJM <http://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/WD37C65BJM-1401373.html>,
for my SBC-188
-UPD7220AD-2 <http://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/UPD7220AD-2-367089.html>,
for a potential future UPD7220 board build (is the 8Mhz version the right
one to get?)
-BT478 <http://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/BT478-791533.html>, for a
potential future UPD7220 board build
-TMS9918, for a potential future SCG card build (is this the right version
to get)
-AY-3-8910, for a potential future SCG card build (is this the right
version to get, or do I need the 'A' version?)

I was thinking of getting 5 ea of the FDC9266 and WD37C65BJM, to have a few
extra on hand.

Are these the right things to get? Some of them have a bunch of variants
of the part numbers so it's not exactly clear.

Also, am I missing any big ones? I'd like to get a much as possible at
once so I can do the faster DHL shipping and not feel guilty....

Andrew

The "-B" revision of the WD-PLCC44 is correct.&nbsp; You have the right
part number.&nbsp; Do not use the (no suffix) or -A revision.&nbsp; The -C
revision is OK too.&nbsp; I have one, but have never run it extensively.&nbsp;
It tends to be more expensive.&nbsp; The -B revision is the most common.<br>
A second source is the SMC version:&nbsp; FDC37C65BLJ&nbsp; (also PLCC44).&nbsp; I
use the WD chip on my SBC-188, and the SMC chip on my N8.<br>

I use the NEC D7220D-1 (ceramic DIP, date code '83 [8335]) with a
40Mhz oscillator for 800x600x16 graphics.&nbsp; This is a 5Mhz chip,
which is running at its limit (the clock is divided by 8 before
going into the chip.)&nbsp; If I remember the data sheet correctly, the
-D suffix is the ceramic package.&nbsp; I forget what the -A meant.&nbsp;
Certainly an 8Mhz part is acceptable.<br>
<br>
These chips were for me "hit-or-miss."&nbsp; Luckily, I got 5 of them;
same part number, same date code.&nbsp; 3 were dead; 2 worked.&nbsp; I think
mine were pulls, rather than new.<br>

My part number is Bt478KPJ66.&nbsp; The -66 is the speed in Mhz.&nbsp; It is a
PLCC44.<br>
