Hi Everyone!

I have been very interested in creating a 6309 multiprocessor multiuser system with multiple 6309 SBCs for some time now. Originally I was planning on using the 6809 mpu on each SBC until I learned about the 6309. I have been doing some research on the Internet and have found some interesting papers on the subject and while these are far off plans at this point, I thought I’d ask everyone who are way more familiar with the ECB BUS Definition than I, can the ECB BUS in its current format and definition handle the necessary signals required to support a 6309 multiprocessor multi-SBC based system at this point. If anyone has any ideas on a system like this, I would be extremely interested in hearing from them. A multiprocessor multiuser computer system has always been a dream of mine and with the advent of the 6309 it will make each SBC a little more powerful and still use the best 8-bit mpu ever. Though I am relatively new in the N8VEM Group, I’d like to gather those together who may be interested in a computer system like this to please let me know your thoughts and ideas. I would like to start laying the ground work now and slowly work toward seeing if the 6x0x SBC VME PCB with a 6309 or something like it could be used as a good starting point to work towards realizing this goal. Any positive suggestions are very welcome. Take care my friends.

Kip

Subject: [N8VEM: 17510] Bus Monitor - SIP Switches/LEDs?

All,

I am still thinking in my head about the best way to update the ECB Bus Monitor board for 24-bit addresses and 16-bit data. I did a schematic update to add the extra lines while keeping everything else the same. Several additional 7400 series ICs need to be fit on the board to do this "simple" update.

I had a lot of fancy ideas for character displays and TFT LCDs such, but upon reflection the update speed of all of those things is pretty limited which I think might decrease the usefulness of the bus monitor. So I'm kind of setting that aside for now, in favor of the simpler update. Also this is the first board revision I've tried to do on my own.

What are peoples thoughts about going to SIP switches and SIP LED bars on a revision of the Bus Monitor? This would free up space for the additional ICs needed to handle the extra channels.

Something like:

I'd still like to have some update ready to use in my ECB build.
