Hi,

It seems there will be a VCF in Switzerland in October. Wow...

As that's right where I live, I've asked for a presentation table to show
some N8VEM examples. First time I've done such a thing, so if anyone has
tips on what to show - or wants to join - then please let me know!

This is what I came up with so far/proposed to the organisers:

Front row: interactive

- Zeta hooked up to monitor & keyboard: running CP/M live to try.

- N8VEM+PPIDE hooked up to laptop: running CP/M live to try.
Hooked up to Saleae logic probe & 2nd laptop to show some interesting
signalsÂ…

Exhibited behind this: a display of interesting N8VEM parts

- 19" Rack, surrounded by loose ECB cards: VDU, 6809 coprocessor, Disk
IO board+floppy+hard disk

Flyers/handouts: Two N8VEM articles soon to appear in Ct Magazin. And, as I
just discovered the Tiled Poster Printing feature of my printer, I composed
a exhibit panel for behind the table. Cooool (at least to me). See attached
PDF, printed on 140x100cm

Any suggestions, tips, or further ideas?

Regards,

Oscar.

Only slightly off topic, I went to images.google.com and searched for n8vem
and saw lots of nice pictures.

Apparently there exists a beautiful plastic case for the N8, and some
people have woodworking skills at least an order of magnitude more advanced
than mine.

I have no idea WRT copyright / permissions if you can use any of it, but
just wanted to suggest its fun for everyone to look at the pictures. Or
maybe gives ideas of pictures you could take yourself and therefore have
permission to use.

Oscar,

This indeed sounds very interesting, and you have a nice poster.

Are you also planning to do some kind of presentation or a lecture about
N8VEM project?

Based on my experience it would be nice to have A4 sized flyers, with short
description of the project, few pictures, and pointers to web sites with
more information. People going to these fairs frequently get overwhelmed by
the number of various cool exhibits, and at the end of the day you don't
even remember what you've seen. Now if you have a flyer it will remind you
about N8VEM, and also provide pointers for more information.

Also don't just put a bare CP/M, be ready to have some demonstration with
running some useful software. Or have a "script" written down, so visitors
can try it themselves.

It would be nice to have Xi 8088 shown there... if you're interested (and
you think visitors will be interested) we can discus this.

Thanks,
Sergey

Yes, well, no, er, problem is, I'm not *that *fluent in German...
conversation yes; presentation, squirm.

Good idea - I'll cook one up. Unless there's an already existing one?

I was just pondering some Submit/Xsub script that continually runs through
a compile cycle or something. But, that's not necessarily exciting, still
passive.
So yes, a script, on a piece of paper next to the Zeta! Excellent. Hands-on
is always the nicest.

That being said, does anyone here have a recommendation for nice
demonstration software to run?

It would! Problem is I don't have one... I have not really migrated beyond
ECB bus boards and of course, the lovely Zeta/PPP.
