Discussion:
[N8VEM: 19261] the game nemesis on the sbc v2?

The game is located here: http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/games/games.htm

This is one of my favorite cpm games from the 80's. Unfortunately I am
unable to get the terminal display to work out correctly.

There is a program you run, termdef, that walks thorough setting up the
terminal so the game will display correctly.

Unfortunately selecting vt-100 or vt-52 doesn't get the results required.

Using vt-100, the screen defiintely does not clear properly or move the
cursor correctly, and using vt-52 results in the cursor moving correctly,
but the screen still not clearing correctly.

If anybody has any advice on this problem, I would be interested in hearing
it.

Thanks!

Brad

Hi Brad,

What are you using to run the terminal?. Prop IO? Color VDU? Or a terminal emulator via serial port?

Thanks,

Wayne

A terminal emulator via the built-in serial port.

I've tried putty, TeraTerm, and a few others with the same results.

Well, that is surprising. TeraTerm and PuTTY are two of the best known
emulators out there.

Give me a few days and I will see if I can replicate this.

I had the same experience with it on SocZ80 - I'm not convinced its
terminal emulation data is right for VTxx ?

It does permit the definition of custom terminals. I will start working on
that, but I am not sure if I am doing it correctly.
I'll see if I can get anywhere using the vt100 definitions from Briel's
Pocketerm manual. I did run the short Basic test that uses vt100 codes to
clear the screen and position the cursor, and that works fine.

Hi Brad,

Well, the DEC definition was described as VT52 or VT100. In fact, it was
*close* to VT52, but even that definition had one entry wrong. I have
attached a new TERM.DEF file that is appropriate for a VT100. Working fine
for me.
