Did this board reach prototype stage and if so is there any plan to
continue effort?

Same question for ECB Mod Prn?

Thanks, Rich Leary

Hi Leary,

I uploaded the last, but untested, Revision R03 of ECB-ModPrn. The
diffrences to R02 are:

- male connectors like in a PC
- R02-06 as network
- new place for /RESET-select-jumper

If You are interested in testing... I have on PCB R02 for free (complete
welded) for testing. I have at the moment no time to test and develop a
driver. You may use Z80-Dart or SIO/0. I uploaded an old software part
of the former GDR KC85 for M003 RS232-PCB. This couldt be helpfull.

ECB-Centronics is as it is... Are You interested in the KiCad-Files?

The documentation of ECB-ModPrn is not finished yet. May be that I have
some time after Christmas.

Best regards

Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,
If you find no-one to help you test the board I could give it a shot. I
don't have many hardware tools (a bus extender, a logic probe and a logic
sniffer...) but I can try to develop a tool for CP/M using SDCC. I recently
developed a monitor for my S100 computer using that, and a few CP/M
utilities...
I also have at least one serial printer to test, which hopefully should be
still working.

Let me know if you find no better offers!

Wolfgang - sorry for the slow response! Looks like Fabio has volunteered to
work the ECB Mod Prn. That is great.

Yes, please send the Centronics Kicad files and I will work that while
Fabio checks out the alternative, Not sure how fast I will be but I'll give
it a shot.

Thanks,

Hi Rich,

I donÂŽt know when. But we will see.

The idea was the relaziation of an print / modem "center" with the both
PCB, ECB-ModPrn for serial printer and serial communication and
ECB-Centronix for parallel printer and parallel communication. I have no
experience in RomWBW, but the best choise is:

- CTC on ModPrn to generate the serial clock for SIO/DART
- CTC on ModPrn for time-out-control for ModPrn and Centronics
- SIO/DART on ModPrn to connect to printer via RS232
- Centronics to connect to printer with parallel interface

This works best if the drivers use parts which work with INT in IM2. So
we have more free time and we can implement more effective code. There
war in my brain another idea when I developed ECB-Centronics: a quick
parallel interface with 8 Bit for example to connect to an externer
PROMMER....

What do You think about this idea?

@ Wayne: What do You think?

Ok, I have one ECB-ModPrn for testing (to lent), but no ECB-Centronics.
We will see fo a solution in 2015. The next 2 weeks IÂŽm on vacation to
my family.

Best regards and Merry Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas to you too, Wolfgang!

I think it¹s a great idea to have this kind of I/O. I have used the
Peripherals Board for serial at times but a multi-I/O board is a great idea.
I haven¹t looked at the board density, but is it possible to squeeze both
functions on a single board? Maybe use a stacked DB25/DE9/DE9 like on early
PC motherboards? Only issue with that is it would take up two ECB slots, but
so would two separate cards.

Wolfgang,

I looked at your R02 update and it looks like you are making good progress.

I will support prototype testing as you desire.

When I printed the schematic that worked fine. However, when I printed the
board sheets they came out almost unusable as the saturation was very low.
I don't know of a way to change that.

Thanks and Happy New Year!
